A LETTER FROM GAPP’A INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

As you know, the past several months have marked a period of transition for GAPP following the departure of Craig Morris in late March. We are all extremely grateful to Craig for his leadership and contributions to the organization and the Alaska pollock industry.

In the midst of this change, the GAPP Board has entrusted me to step into the role of Interim Executive Director. Having spent years in a variety of capacities working alongside many of you – as well as across our partner organizations and stakeholder groups – I very much appreciate the importance of this work and the collective responsibility we share in advancing the reputation and long-term strength of Alaska pollock.

This moment also requires clear focus. Across Alaska, we are navigating an increasingly complex political and regulatory environment – one that underscores the importance of protecting our industry’s right to operate for generations to come. In close alignment with APFA and our sister organizations, our work is centered on reinforcing the credibility, transparency, and long-term sustainability of the Alaska pollock fishery. That means not only telling our story more effectively, but ensuring the debate about the fishery is grounded in facts, science, and the real-world impact this fishery has on coastal Alaskan communities, American jobs, and global food security.

That commitment will be reflected in both our work and how we communicate moving forward. As part of that evolution, we are shifting GAPP’s newsletter to a bi-monthly cadence beginning this month. This change allows us to be more intentional – delivering updates that are more substantive, more strategic, and more aligned with key moments across the industry and our reputational efforts.

In the weeks and months ahead, our team – Sam Murphy, Reid Severson, Jasmine Butler and Julie Cisco – will remain focused on advancing priority initiatives, supporting ongoing partnerships, and identifying new opportunities to elevate Alaska pollock in meaningful ways.

I look forward to continuing this work with all of you and appreciate your ongoing partnership and support during this time.
