ABROLHOS OCTOPUS LAUNCHES NEW MSC-CERTIFIED COOKED OCTOPUS TENTACLES

Abrolhos Octopus launches new MSC-certified cooked octopus tentacles and octopus sauce for food service and retail at Seafood Expo Global, Barcelona.

Abrolhos Octopus is already established as a quality supplier of the superior Western Rock Octopus (O.djinda), a species unique to the coast of Western Australia.  Our octopus lives very well on a diet of lobsters, crabs and scallops also found here in our clean blue waters.  This is what gives the Western Rock Octopus its superior flavour and texture, making it the first choice of leading chefs around the globe.

Abrolhos Octopus is certified sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).  This is a rare accreditation in the global octopus industry. The MSC blue fish tick recognises and rewards sustainable fishing practices, influences the choices people make when buying seafood and creates working relationships with partners to transform the seafood market to a more sustainable model. This is something we are both proud of and passionate about.

In response to customer demand, the Abrolhos Octopus range will now be expanded to include easy-to-use cooked octopus tentacles in a 1kg bag and a new 300g retail pack, as well as introducing our new octopus sauce in a jar.

Our full range consists of:

Quote from Adrian Hobbs, Founder of Abrolhos Octopus:

“Our species of octopus is readily recognised as the very best, the wagyu of octopus, by leading chefs. We are now responding to feedback that ‘ease of use’ and smaller pack size will meet demand for customers to effortlessly prepare octopus themselves at home.”

Quote from Dion van der Merwe, Managing Director of Abrolhos Octopus:

“We’re very excited to announce our newest product, Octopus Sauce. This versatile stir-in-sauce is the perfect way to add a deeper, delicious flavour to dishes such as pasta, fish pie and seafood chowder.  The possibilities are endless.”

Abrolhos Octopus will be at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona (6 – 8 May 2025) on Australia Stand GB305.  Dion and Adrian will both be available for interview or comment.
