BRIXHAM TRAWLER EVENT TO GO AHEAD NEXT YEAR

The newly reformed ‘Port of Brixham Trawler Event Association’ says that the famous event will go ahead in 2025.

A statement from the Association said: “After months of negotiating with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) we have reached a compromise which allows us to restart our much loved Trawler Event in 2025 albeit it with a reduced number of passengers onboard the trawlers. We will keep everyone informed as we work through the process.

“All official information will be shared via our ‘Port of Brixham Trawler Event’ socials on Facebook and Instagram.

“With that in mind, we would like to hear from anyone with an interest in joining the event planning committee and ask you to contact us via messenger on this Facebook page. We need all hands on deck and pro-active committee members to get planning and taking on roles. For the first year, money raised will be for the work of the South West England Fishermen’s Mission.

“Finally, we would like to record our appreciation to the Plymouth Branch of the MCA, Rob Parsons Harbour Master and Nigel Blazeby Maritime Consultant for their support and look forward to working together to ensure our Event will be both a safe and a pleasurable one.
