CHILEAN SEAFOOD COMPANY GAINS SUSTAINABILITY RECOGNITION
Chilean seafood company gains sustainability recognition. Vertically integrated Chilean fishing and aquaculture company, Blumar, first store and experience centre, Mercado Blumar, reached a new achievement by obtaining the Blue Seal from the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca). The mark recognises establishments that sell seafood resources and products that support sustainability, ensuring legal origin and compliance with fishing regulations.
It is the second store in Magallanes to receive this distinction, which recognises establishments that promote good fishing practices and responsible consumption, encouraging these, as well as the traceability of products.
“This seal allows us to identify that the products have correct and complete traceability and, therefore, encourages the responsible consumption of seafood products,” said the head of finished products at Salmones Blumar Magallanes, Triana González.
The regional director of Sernapesca Magallanes, Elizabeth Godoy, highlighted that:
“Mercado Blumar is the second store that has been awarded the Blue Seal in Magallanes.” The above is very relevant, since the space is the company’s first experience selling directly to people in Chile in a space that seeks to promote the responsible consumption of seafood.
For her part, the Mercado Blumar store manager, Trinidad Amezaga, stated:
“This milestone is very important for us. With this distinction, consumers can know that our products have complete traceability. The store has allowed us to bring our premium standard products closer to the communities of Magallanes, and serve as a space for various culinary and educational activities. The Blue Seal is a new impetus to continue serving the community.”
