CHINA’S SEPTEMBER SHRIMP IMPORTS DROP 24% YOY

China’s September shrimp imports drop 24% YoY, bringing 2024 year-to-date down by 11%.  China’s shrimp imports in September 2024 reached 66,149 MT. This is a drop of 24% YoY. The Q3 total reached 230,141 MT, down 12% YoY. The year-to-date total reached 676,991 MT, down 11% YoY.

Imports from Ecuador in September 2024 reached 49,956 MT, down 12% YoY. The Q3 total imports from Ecuador reached 170,796 MT, down 5% YoY. The year-to-date total reached 501,809 MT, down 7% YoY. Average import prices of Ecuadorian shrimp have slightly increased compared to the start of the year from $4.36 in January to $4.52 in September.

Imports from India in September 2024 reached 9,505 MT, a 48% drop year over year. The Q3 total imports from India reached 38,098 MT, down 15% year over year. The year-to-date total reached 104,364 MT, only down 1% year over year. Average import prices of Indian shrimp have slightly declined compared to the start of the year, from $5.67 in January to $5.13 in September.
