Fisheries Control Measures for brown crab, spider crab and velvet crab – SFPA publishes Fisheries Information Notice.
The Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) recently published a new Fisheries Information Notice (FIN) titled ‘Fisheries Control Measures for Brown Crab, Spider Crab and Velvet Crab for Irish Fishing Vessels within the Irish EEZ’.*
The FIN aims to bring awareness to fishers of their regulatory obligations in respect of Brown Crab, Spider Crab and Velvet Crab, and highlights other key areas including:
- Visual Identification of each species.
- Guidelines on how to correctly measure each species.
- Catch reporting and submission obligations.
- Non-commercial Pot fishing regulations**
