From Norway to Scotland: Oceanbox launches new ocean model .Norwegian ocean modelling company Oceanbox has announced the launch of a new high-resolution ocean model covering Scotland, making the company’s simulation platform available in one of the world’s leading aquaculture regions.
The new model allows users to rapidly simulate ocean currents, particle transport, sea lice dispersion, water exchange, and environmental interactions across Scottish coastal waters.
Scotland is one of the world’s leading aquaculture regions, known for complex coastlines, exposed farming locations, strong tidal currents, and demanding environmental conditions. Oceanbox believes these waters are ideally suited for next-generation ocean intelligence tools.
“Scotland represents one of the most exciting aquaculture markets globally. By establishing our ocean model here, we are making advanced simulations faster and more accessible for operators, consultants, and decision-makers,” says Svenn A. Hanssen, CEO of Oceanbox.
Oceanbox has built its reputation in Norway by delivering user-friendly and high-performance ocean simulations for aquaculture, environmental planning, and marine operations.
The Scotland launch marks the first step in a broader international growth strategy.
“Our ambition is clear: make advanced ocean modelling available wherever the industry needs it,” says Svenn A. Hanssen.
For Scottish aquaculture companies, consultants and regulators, the new model opens opportunities for improved site planning, environmental documentation, biological risk assessments and operational decision support.
