German Ambassador to Chile visits Ventisqueros and learns about its salmon farming operations.
- Diplomat Susanne Fries-Gaier toured the company’s facilities in Puerto Montt and gained first-hand insight into part of its salmon farming operations, accompanied by representatives from Ventisqueros and the Honorary Consulate of Germany in Puerto Montt.
As part of her tour of southern Chile, German Ambassador Susanne Fries-Gaier visited Ventisqueros’ facilities together with Germany’s Honorary Consul in Puerto Montt, Thomas Frank Bollinger Folkerts. The delegation was welcomed by Francisco Bellolio, Transformation and People Manager, and José Miguel Lecaros, Process Manager at Ventisqueros.
The ambassador’s agenda included visits to various Chilean-German institutions and meetings with regional authorities. Against this backdrop, a visit to Ventisqueros, a company belonging to the Schörghuber Group, was scheduled, a connection that gave the meeting particular significance.
In this context, Fries-Gaier noted that:
“German companies investing here in Chile play an important role in our bilateral relations. It was a very productive trip, during which many ideas emerged on how to further deepen our ties.”
The meeting provided an opportunity to share with the German delegation some of the challenges and opportunities facing Chile’s salmon industry, as well as Ventisqueros’ role as a German-owned company operating and creating value in southern Chile.
During the visit, the ambassador and honorary consul learned more about Ventisqueros’ operations, where they observed the use of technology and the standards applied throughout different stages of salmon production for international markets.
“For Ventisqueros, it is very valuable to welcome representatives from Germany and show them first-hand how we work from southern Chile. As part of the Schörghuber Group, we have close ties with Germany, which are also reflected in a long-term vision based on excellence, innovation and sustainable development,” Bellolio said.
The meeting helped strengthen ties between Germany and Chile while creating an opportunity for dialogue on productive development and new avenues for collaboration between the two countries.
