ICELANDIC CATCH VALUES RISE

ICELANDIC CATCH VALUES RISE

Icelandic catch values rise. The value of catch from Icelandic vessels in October 2018 was 12.1 billion ISK, 8.9% more than in October 2017, according to the latest landing figures from the Icelandic Directorate of Fisheries.

Demersal catch value was 8.6 billion ISK, an increase of 9.7% due to more value of saithe and haddock while the value of cod was nearly the same as in October 2017. The value of pelagic catch was 2.5 billion ISK, 3.7% less than in October 2017. Value of flatfish catch was 843 million ISK in October an increase of 366 million or 76.7%. The increase is due to more catch of Greenland halibut and higher price of plaice.

Total value of catch in the 12 month period from November 2017 to October 2018 was nearly 125 billion ISK which is a 14% increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
