JT electric delivers ship design feeding barge no.11. JT electric has specialized in building advanced feeding barges for fish farming in extreme environments. Last week, the company delivered a feeding barge, a 75 metre long ‘ship design’ barge that will be anchored by one of Bakkafrost’s fish farms in Gøtuvík, Faroe Islands.
The barge is equipped with a modern 8 Line Multifeeding System, developed by JT electric. The system is fully automated and can feed both salmon and lumpfish through the same lines. The capacity in this particular barge is 700 ton feed for salmon and 5 ton feed for lumpfish. The barge is unmanned so everything is set up to be remotely operated from shore.
“Our ship design feeding barges have proved extremely stable and strong in the most harsh environments,” says Suni Justinussen, CEO at JT electric.
“We had extremely bad weather in the Faroe Islands last winter and once again these barges proved to be good solutions for these exposed sites,” say Suni.
