RANGEN LEADS U.S. AQUACULTURE FORWARD WITH FIRST ASC FEED CERTIFICATION

RANGEN LEADS U.S. AQUACULTURE FORWARD

Rangen leads U.S. aquaculture forward with first ASC Feed Certification. Rangen Aquaculture Nutrition has achieved a historic milestone for responsible aquaculture in the United States.

Located in the heart of Idaho’s Magic Valley – a hub for agriculture and aquaculture – Rangen’s Buhl feed mill is the first in the country to achieve ASC Feed Certification, driving change across the American aquafeed industry. The mill is now certified to produce feed for freshwater trout, salmon, seriola and cobia, shrimp, and tilapia.

Feed is where change begins for the seafood farming industry. It’s one of the most influential factors for improving environmental and social performance in the sector, which continues to grow in impact and demand. ASC Feed Certification ensures that the ingredients used to nourish farmed fish are responsibly produced and sourced, and traceable.

With this certification, Rangen is setting a new benchmark for responsible aquafeed manufacturing in North America and supporting U.S. farmers who are working toward more responsible seafood production.

“Rangen achieving the first ASC Feed Certification in the United States is a significant step for the U.S. aquaculture sector,” said Aisla Jones, Feed Engagement Manager at Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC). “This certification demonstrates a trailblazing step forward in responsible sourcing and production. By embedding sustainability at the very start of the aquaculture value chain, Rangen is helping to build a more transparent and trusted seafood industry for the future.

“Rangen Aquaculture is committed to delivering nutritionally rich solutions from hatch to harvest and ASC is now a key part of that commitment,” said Carrington Gorman, Director of Aquaculture, Rangen Inc. “Rangen brings decades of expertise to specialty aquaculture with a focus on strict specifications and quality control standards. Demonstrating alignment with the ASC Feed Standard makes Rangen an industry leader for American feed companies, showing we’ve met the world’s strictest standards to deliver an exceptional product that’s not only nutritious for animals, but sustainable for the environment.”

The ASC Feed Standard and ASC Farm Standard work hand in hand to promote responsible aquaculture from feed to final product. While the ASC Farm Standard drives environmental and social responsibility on aquaculture farms, the ASC Feed Standard ensures that ingredients used in feed are responsibly sourced and produced. From October 31, 2025, ASC-certified farms are required to use ASC-conforming feed from certified mills, making Rangen’s achievement especially timely for U.S. producers preparing for the next stage of industry transformation.

Rangen’s certification demonstrates the growing momentum of sustainable aquaculture and ASC recognition in the United States, reinforcing the country’s potential to lead in responsible seafood production and supply chain integrity at the global level.

About the ASC Feed Standard

The ASC Feed Standard is the first of its kind to set binding global requirements for all feed ingredients – from fishmeal and fish oil to plant-based ingredients such as soy, palm oil, and wheat. Companies must demonstrate that these are sourced from responsibly managed fisheries or sustainable agricultural sources.
