SEAFOOD SCOTLAND PARTNERS WITH MICHELIN AS THE AWARDS HEAD TO GLASGOW – FOR THE FIRST TIME

SEAFOOD SCOTLAND PARTNERS WITH MICHELIN

Seafood Scotland partners with Michelin as the awards head to Glasgow – for the first time.  Seafood Scotland, the trade marketing body that represents the entire Scottish seafood industry, has been confirmed as a Partner for the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony Great Britain & Ireland 2025.

The news comes as The MICHELIN Guide today announced that the awards ceremony will be held in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow, on 10 February 2025, in what is widely regarded as a major coup for the city and for Scotland. The successful bid to host the ceremony came from a joint partnership between Glasgow Life and Scotland Food & Drink – a unique collaboration of industry organisations, research institutes, the Scottish Government, and its agencies – of which Seafood Scotland is a key member.
Adam Wing, Head of Trade Marketing for Seafood Scotland, said:
“A coveted Michelin Star puts a restaurant, and its chef team, firmly on the culinary map.
“This partnership will enhance our existing strategy of working directly with some of the best chefs in the land to highlight the wide array of world-class Scottish seafood species so often highlighted on a menu.
“Our research has revealed that Scottish scallops from Mull, Skye, and Orkney are the most utilised Scottish seafood species by Michelin Starred restaurants closely followed by our delicious langoustines.

He added:
“We’re making plans to host pre- and post-Awards events in Glasgow to showcase the very best of Scotland’s bountiful seafood larder. This is a tremendous opportunity for the Scottish seafood sector, and we are going to make the most of it.”
One Scottish company which supplies diver-caught scallops, langoustines, lobster, and live and cooked crab  from the waters off the Northwest Highland coast and islands for Michelin starred restaurants is Keltic Seafare, often referred to as Scotland’s number one live shellfish supplier.
Managing Director Alasdair Hughson, said:
“It gives us a feeling of great pride to see our shellfish in demand by chefs who passionately care about the quality of the products that they prepare for their valued customers.  We are lucky to have robust stocks of excellent quality shellfish available in the waters around our coasts.  Add to that a passion for preserving that quality straight to the chefs’ kitchens as quickly as possible, and you have a winning combination.”
Scotland currently has two 2-Michelin Starred restaurants: The Glenturret Lalique in Crieff, and Restaurant Andrew Fairlie within The Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder.
A further nine restaurants have One Michelin Star, including Glasgow’s Cail Bruich and Unalome by Graeme Cheevers.  The others are:  Condita, Heron, Restaurant Martin Wishart, Timberyard, and The Kitchin, all Edinburgh; The Peat Inn, Fife; and Loch Bay on Skye.
