Shaping the future of fishing at the Pavilion of Denmark. Durable equipment, circularity, and forward-looking innovation are key themes at the Pavilion of Denmark, which brings together more than 80 exhibitors at DanFish 2025.
More than 80 Danish companies are once again ready to make a strong presence at Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Centre as part the Pavilion of Denmark, organised by Danish Export Association, when one of the fishing industry’s leading trade fairs, DanFish, takes place on 7–9 October.
The exhibitors represent a wide range of products and solutions for the fishing industry – from fishing gear, propulsion systems and ship vessel equipment to processing technologies. They all have one thing in common: is delivering innovative solutions that enable more efficient and sustainable fishing.
Equipment built to last
One exhibitor practically on home ground in Aalborg is ME Production from Frederikshavn. The company, which produces marine gear, among other things, has proven that its equipment stands the test of time—and retains value even when it’s no longer at sea.
In 1999, ME Production supplied a gearbox for a fishing vessel. After about 110,000 operating hours, the decision was made in 2021 to retire the gearbox and replace it with an identical model. The reason wasn’t wear and tear, but simply that replacement was faster than a full overhaul. Still full of good hours, the gearbox wasn’t scrapped; instead, it was donated to the marine engineering program at Frederikshavn Technical School, where students now use it for training—turning theory into practice by, for example, learning to perform precision measurements.
“For us, it’s important to make equipment that lasts. That makes sense both economically and environmentally. And it’s great to see our equipment find a new life even after it’s taken out of service. At DanFish, these qualities are exactly what we’ll highlight in our conversations with customers, while also using the fair as a chance to listen to their needs for solutions for the fishing industry of the future,” says Mathias Bentsen, Marine Gear Sales Manager at ME Production.
Unique testing facilities drive busy fair days
A new exhibitor at the Pavilion of Denmark is Flume Tank North Sea from Hirtshals. Operated by Nordsøen Forskerpark, the Flume Tank is Europe’s largest flow tank, offering unique facilities for testing and measuring equipment for fishing, aquaculture, and other segments more.
Product development here happens in real time, making it a key hub of innovation that helps Danish suppliers maintain and strengthen their position as industry leaders in gentle, sustainable solutions.
“We look forward to exhibiting at DanFish for the first time and becoming part of the shared community in the exhibition hall and at the Pavilion of Denmark. DanFish week is already incredibly busy for us, as many of our customers also exhibit at the fair and invite their clients to demonstrations in the Flume Tank, where we’re running tests until 9 or 10 p.m. every evening,” says Mette Hyldgaard Roussis, Business Development Manager at Flume Tank North Sea.
Circular conveyor belts
At DanFish, Ammeraal Beltech will showcase a sustainability-focused concept that helps customers reduce both CO₂ and expenses. With the purchase of a Circle Links belt from Ammeraal, customers can return their old Ammeraal conveyor belt free of charge, avoiding the usual cost of disposing of it as waste scrap. In addition, Circle Links belts are made entirely of recycled plastic. A dedicated calculation tool shows exactly how much CO₂ is saved when replacing an old belt with a Circle Links model.
“Documentation and CO₂ reduction are an important part of our customers’ ESG reporting. When we can help them achieve a significant reduction and at the same time provide concrete data, we believe we can create even greater value as a supplier,” says Torben Illeborg Andersen, Country Director at Ammeraal Beltech.
AMMEGA Group, the parent company of Ammeraal Beltech, has just received the EcoVadis Gold Medal for the third consecutive year—an acknowledgement of the company’s high-level performance and successful sustainability efforts.
