Together at Aqua Nor: Collaboration meets innovation in Danish aquaculture

Danish suppliers to the global aquaculture industry work closely together. At Aqua Nor, Danish companies stand together, ready to provide customers with the best and most modern and efficient solutions.

Denmark strives to be the world’s leading country in providing the global aquaculture industry with sustainable and efficient solutions.  It requires a high level of innovative power and, equally importantly, it requires the ability and willingness to cooperate. Danish companies excel at both, and when 45 exhibitors join the Pavilion of Denmark at Aqua Nor, they will showcase solutions and products made possible through collaboration.

“The Danish culture of collaborating is strong and at Aqua Nor, visitors will experience how the companies know each other well and can refer customers to other companies that have the exact solution that they need,” says Martin Winkel Lilleoere, Head of Fish Tech at Danish Export Association who organise the Pavilion of Denmark.

Strengthening the narrative of Denmark
FREA Solutions is one of the Danish exhibitors and a major player in the aquaculture industry. Originating from a fish farming company—and still farming fish and fry—the company has developed into a leading tech and RAS solution provider for the trout farming industry.

With the advantage of being able to continuously develop and test solutions in its own farming facilities, FREA Solutions can provide customers with the newest and most innovative solutions—while sticking to its core principles of ‘keeping it simple’ and ‘making it work’.

At Aqua Nor, the company will be ready to share news about its new RAS module for cost-effective and profitable farming of large trout on land. As in FREA’s other solutions, this facility is developed in collaboration with other suppliers to optimize every component, from feed and pumps to water purification.

“In this industry, we’re not competitors—we’re colleagues. We give each other references and make sure the customers get to talk to the company who can take care of their specific needs. We’re always eager to strengthen the narrative of Denmark as the place to find the most innovative solutions in land-based aquaculture and RAS. At Aqua Nor, we will physically be there, right next to each other, to help customers get the best solutions,” says Jeppe Mortensen, sales and business development at FREA Solutions.

Stronger together
For another exhibitor, ROTEK, Aqua Nor is also a chance to showcase some of the solutions developed in close cooperation with other Danish companies. One of the newest inventions from the highly specialized supplier of plastic solutions, is a facility to handle by-products from the fish farming industry.

This large-scale project has been brought to life in close cooperation with Landia, Busch Vacuum Solutions and Kroma, and with their different areas of expertise and knowledge about the industry and the customers, the companies have created the best solution for the challenge of handling by-products.

“When collaborating, we can bring together our strengths and we can deliver much more complete turn-key solutions than we could if each one of us would just provide some components to the end-customer. This gives us an advantage in the market, and joining forces also means that we have broader access to the market than we would each have on our own, says Allan Holden, Sales Manager at ROTEK A/S.
