Turkish Seafood Takes the Spotlight at Seafood Expo Global Barcelona 2026
The Istanbul Fishery and Animal Products Exporters’ Association will mark its 20th participation at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona with a strong presence, bringing together 16 leading Turkish producers and showcasing the quality, diversity, and sustainability of Turkish seafood.
Türkiye has become a key global player in aquaculture, with a production exceeding 800,000 tons and exports reaching over 300,000 tons annually, positioning the country as a net exporter with a value of over $1.2 billion.
At the fair, the focus will be on flagship products such as sea bream, sea bass, bluefin tuna, rainbow trout and Turkish salmon, recognized for their quality, traceability, and sustainable farming practices. With approximately 2,500 aquaculture farms and strong investment in production and processing, the sector continues to grow steadily.
As part of the program, the Association will host a special gastronomic event on April 21 in Barcelona, bringing together international chefs including Daniel del Toro, Fabio Gambirasi, and Chef Lui Xuiqi, with the participation of additional guest chefs such as Thomas Straker and Francesco Mattana.
The evening will offer a curated tasting experience where each chef will present dishes inspired by Turkish seafood, highlighting different culinary perspectives and interpretations of Mediterranean flavors.
In parallel, throughout the fair, a Turkish chef will be present at the stand, offering live cooking sessions and product presentations to visitors and industry professionals.
This initiative aims to reinforce the international positioning of Turkish seafood, emphasizing not only product quality but also sustainability, innovation, and culinary versatility.
