VakSea Wins Aquaculture Innovation Challenge Award at AquaSG ‘19 Conference
VakSea to receive $50,000 to partner with Singapore’s Aquaculture Innovation Centre for proof-of-concept R&D
VakSea, an aquaculture biotechnology company that bio-manufactures functional feed additives to protect farm-raised fish and shrimp from disease, today announced it won the Aquaculture Innovation Challenge at the AquaSG ‘19conference held earlier this month in Singapore.
The Aquaculture Innovation Challenge, valued at $50,000, was presented to VakSea CEO Mihir Pershad, who pitched VakSea and its core product and value proposition for the fisheries and aquaculture markets to global aquaculture industry leaders and investors at the conference.
“On behalf of the VakSea team, we’re very excited to receive the AquaSG ‘19 Aquaculture Innovation Challenge award,” said Mihir Pershad, VakSea CEO. “With these funds, we’re looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the expert team at the Aquaculture Innovation Centre in Singapore to conduct proof-of-concept research and testing on our core product.”
Now in its fourth year, the The AquaSG’ 19 conference was formed as a platform for industry professionals and academics to discuss current issues and present innovative applications in aquaculture, particularly seafood safety and security.
VakSea, which launched in 2016, continues to gain momentum in its product development and customer outreach efforts. Last June, VakSea received the Future Food Asia 2019 Startup SG award with a $50,000 value. The Future Food Asia 2019 Startup SG prize is given annually to agriculture tech companies that demonstrate the potential to have significant impact on the future of food in Asia and the agriculture ecosystem in Singapore.
