Blumar hosts session of Global Compact Regional Network. Chilean salmon farming and fishing company Blumar was recently hosted a meeting of the member companies of the Global Compact Regional Network, an instance where the Executive Director of the United Nations initiative, Margarita Ducci, participated.
This corresponds to the third meeting of the year that is held with companies in the region, to continue working for the purpose of contributing to the 2030 agenda of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The representative of Global Compact Chile, Margarita Ducci, commented that:
“I am very happy at this session of the Global Compact Council in Biobío, because I see that there is increasing enthusiasm among companies in the region to participate in the Council. This is a way to unite the regions that are motivated with the issue of sustainability, exchange experiences, address different types of knowledge depending on the subject, and I believe that today in the morning common topics of the 2030 agenda were discussed as an objective to advance their goals.”
For his part, the head of Social Management at Masisa and coordinator of the network, Felipe Henríquez, mentioned that:
“we are at the stage of being able to make ourselves visible and get to work. I believe that the idea for the future, and in the short term, is to be able to visualize the real contribution of each of the companies and us as Pacto Biobío, to the sustainable development strategy of 2030.”
“For Blumar it is very important to be a member of the Global Compact and to actively participate in the different instances it has, one of those is the local Network in Biobío. That is why, on this occasion, we wanted to receive the Council in our facilities, which is a powerful network of companies from different areas at the local level, academia and other organisations, to an instance of collaborative work and what we are especially looking for in this meeting “is to strengthen this local network and generate a joint work plan,” said Blumar’s Head of ESG and Climate Change Management, Estefanía Humud.
