GSSI welcomes Kyokuyo Co. Ltd to its Global Partnership. The Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative is pleased to announce that Kyokuyo Co. Ltd has joined GSSI as a Funding Partner.
Since its establishment in 1937, Kyokuyo Co., Ltd. has been providing safe and reliable food in Japan and overseas, with a focus on fishery products. Under its ESG management, the company strives to solve social issues through its business activities – creating social and economic value. Their efforts for the sustainable use of marine resources and ocean stewardship include:
- The handling of seafood with certifications, such as MSC and ASC. They are now in the process of acquiring a MEL Japan Certificate at their aquaculture site
- Full life-cycle aquaculture of bluefin tuna for the conservation of natural resources
- As a solution to ocean plastic issues, the reduction of plastic usage for packaging of their products and clean-up activities on rivers and beaches.
