SAFETY ON FISHING VESSELS A PRIORITY FOR SUNDERLAND MARINE

SAFETY ON FISHING VESSELS

With over 8,000 policies directly written, Sunderland Marine is strongly committed to improving and supporting safety on fishing vessels, investing significant resources in loss prevention to promote education and training for crew.

In particular, Sunderland Marine has acted in response to industry feedback and common causes of claims by addressing the need for better safety and on-board training resources for new crew.

The Sunderland Marine poster series, Safe Home, compares and contrasts good and bad practice on board fishing vessels and the illustrated loss prevention guide, Safe Out, Safe Home, is designed to help new fishermen when they first join a vessel. It can also help skippers and old hands, both as a refresher and for training new crew. In an easy to follow format, it takes the reader through the basic familiarisation procedures that should take place on every fishing boat, including safety clothing, fire drills and giving first aid.

Copies of educational safety resources are available to download from the Sunderland Marine website: https://www.sunderlandmarine.com/loss-prevention/insights/
