FISHERMEN CALL ON ELON MUSK & DOGE TO SAVE ICONIC INDUSTRY FROM REGULATORS

Fishermen call on Elon Musk & DOGE to save iconic industry from regulators. Bloated bureaucratic agencies are killing America’s oldest industry. What started as a hands-off government approach for the fishing industry has turned into a $7.3 billion bureaucratic leviathan known as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Fisheries around the country have been crushed by unjust regulations and are on the verge of collapse. The New England Fishermen’s Stewardship Association (NEFSA) has written a letter to Elon Musk and DOGE asking them to investigate and reform the NOAA. Below are a few of the reforms NEFSA has asked DOGE to implement:
- Eliminating NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management (OCM), which has been overrun with environmentalist groups that do not understand fishing.
- Reviewing the NOAA Fisheries’ Endangered Species Act, and eliminating its unnecessary bloat.
- Updating NOAA Fisheries’ archaic Data Management, which has mislead regulators with bad data.
- Limiting or reallocating NOAA Fisheries’ substantial funding to promote and support the fishing industry.
The letter states:
“Overregulation by climate-focused, ideological bureaucrats is destroying the fishing industry, making it nearly impossible for working-class fishermen to make a living. In turn, it has allowed foreign competitors to fill the gap and expand their commercial fishing markets, all while failing to achieve its intended purpose. This is precisely that type of issue that DOGE was designed to tackle.”
