APPOINTMENT OF LOUISE MURPHY AS SENIOR EXECUTIVE MANAGER AND MEMBER OF THE SEA-FISHERIES PROTECTION AUTHORITY

Appointment of Louise Murphy as Senior Executive Manager and Member of the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority

Louise Murphy has been appointed by Minister of State for Agriculture, Food & the Marine Mr. Timmy Dooley T.D. as a member of the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) following a public recruitment process conducted for the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine by the Public Appointments Service.

Louise has more than 20 years’ experience, the last 15 of which have been in the public sector and most recently worked as Acting Principal Officer Corporate Services at the SFPA. She originally joined the SFPA as Director of Finance in 2017 and was tasked with ensuring that resources were aligned with strategic goals, that public funds were managed with transparency, accountability and efficiency in accordance with corporate governance standards as well as the development and implementation of risk management policies.

Louise is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and holds a BSc (Accounting) from University College Cork.

Louise joins fellow Authority members; Mr. Paschal Hayes, Executive Chairperson and Mr. Michael Finn, Senior Executive Manager Operations.

Paschal Hayes, Executive Chairperson of the SFPA commented:

“I am delighted that Minister Dooley has appointed Louise Murphy as a Sea Fisheries Protection Authority member following her success in the Public Appointments Service recruitment campaign. She joins Michael Finn and I to bring the Authority back up to a full strength of three members.
