FRANK BONEFAAS ENDORSES RELATIONSHIPS IN HULL DURING PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

Frank Bonefaas endorses relationships in Hull during Platinum Jubilee celebrations. A host of varied visitors had a unique opportunity to view and board the Frank Bonefaas over the recent long bank holiday weekend, as the impressive fishing vessel visited to take part in the Jubilee celebrations and to endorse existing professional relationships in the region. The landmark event was part of a series of local celebrations for the Queens Platinum Jubilee this June.

During the extended Jubilee weekend celebrations, North Atlantic Fishing Company hosted senior staff from Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA), the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Training Accreditation team, Hull Trinity House academy and Fleetwood Nautical Campus to discuss the next steps for the company’s cadet scheme designed to deliver the next generation of British fishing vessel crew.  In addition, Trinity House Academy pupils and the Hull Sea Cadets were given tours of the vessel. Extending the celebrations, the Frank Bonefaas was joined by another of North Atlantic Fishing Company’s vessels, the Wiron 6, which participated in the eye-catching flotilla that sailed to and from the Humber Bridge.

The Frank Bonefaas, owned and operated by the North Atlantic Fishing company, based in Hull, was built in 1994 at YVC IJsselwerf yard in the Netherlands and was fully refitted in 2013. The vessel is crewed by fishermen living in the ports of Hull and Grimsby who make up over 70% of the 46-man crew extending the long maritime history in Hull.

The Frank Bonefaas operates all year round in UK/EU waters fishing only for four species of sustainable mid-water stocks such as Mackerel and Herring. This provides an essential, healthy, sustainable, and low-cost food source for markets worldwide, helping to ensure global food security for the rapidly growing global population.

The tours were conducted by our very own fishermen and engineers who spend a lot of time on board, and it provided an opportunity for them to demonstrate their pride in their ship and to educate visitors about the important work we do at the North Atlantic Fishing Company helping to support global food security by sustainably sourcing fish to feed the world.
