PETERHEAD FLEET SHELTERS FROM STORM CIARA
Peterhead fleet shelters from Storm Ciara
Virtually the whole of the Peterhead fleet was tied-up in port at the start of this week, sheltering from Storm Ciara.
A good market of over 6,000 boxes on the morning of Monday 10 February gave buyers plenty of choice, but with fish likely to be scarce for the rest of the week, prices were robust. Pelagic vessels were also busy landing mackerel into the port, including the Challenge.
Peterhead is the UK’s biggest white fish and pelagic port, with its new state-of-the-art fish market having attained the highest AA rating from BRC Global Standards. It also has Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) chain of custody accreditation, cementing the port’s reputation as a centre of sustainable seafood excellence.
