Pine Island Redfish’s co-founder & CEO speaks before industry leaders in two prime London events. Pine Island Redfish was featured in two key industry presentations in London by Co-Founder and CEO Megan Sorby.

Last week, Sorby presented at the final event of Bright Tide’s Regenerative Farming Accelerator Programme at Barclays Bank in Canary Wharf London. Earlier in the week, the project was highlighted among industry leaders at the Blue Food Innovation Summit, Bankside London.

“I was honoured to share the Pine Island Redfish story of regenerative farming and the circular economy we are creating with our unique approach to recirculating aquaculture and its effluent,” explained Sorby. “Pine Island Redfish tackles the biggest challenge RAS operators face today; how to deal with fish waste. Rather than having nutrient-rich saltwater effluent leaving the site, we create a super-fertiliser to cultivate salt-loving and climate stabilising plants and allow our seawater to percolate back into the saltwater table. This speaks to siting RAS in a way that works in harmony with the environmental conditions but also addresses the helping hand Mother Nature needs.”

Pine Island Redfish was one of twenty land and ocean-based regenerative farming start-ups chosen for the 8-week accelerator programme with Bright Tide.

“We were blown away by the innovative spirit and potential impact of this cohort of ventures from around the world,” said Harry Wright, Founder and CEO of Bright Tide. “Their pitches at Barclay’s on Friday highlighted the impressive progress they’ve made over the past few months, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.”

On May 21- 22 in London, the Blue Food Innovation Summit brought together leaders at the forefront of investing in and developing solutions for nature-positive, resilient aquaculture and ocean regeneration. Sorby was one of four company founders selected to present as part of the Innovation Showcase.

“The Blue Food Innovation Summit is an incredible mix of industry thought leaders, entrepreneurs and investors who share the common goals of food security and sustainability. Speaking at the Summit allowed us to share our unique story with a global audience and find common grounds for collective action in the sector.”
