SFPA ISSUES INFORMATION NOTICE TO TRADE REGISTRATION FOR THE EXPORTS OF FISHERY PRODUCTS FROM IRELAND TO INDIA

SFPA Issues Information Notice to Trade Registration for the exports of fishery products from Ireland to India. The Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) recently issued an Information Notice to industry in relation to the registration of Food Business Operators for the exports of fishery products from Ireland to India. The SFPA has issued this Information Notice in relation to technical requirements for Irish companies trading with India in an evolving third country regulatory environment.
The SFPA has been informed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) that for consignments of fish, fishery products and molluscan shellfish to be exported to India, the Irish exporter must be registered with the Indian Competent Authority.
To that end, the SFPA is working on the submission of a list of SFPA Approved establishments to be approved for export to India.
If an SFPA Approved Establishment is interested in being included on this list registering for export to India in this initial round of submissions, they can email SFPATradeandAudit@sfpa.ie.

About the SFPA
The Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) is the independent statutory body responsible for the regulation of the sea-fisheries and the sea-food production sectors. It promotes compliance with the EU Common Fisheries Policy, sea-fisheries law and food safety law relating to fish and fish products, verifies compliance and, where necessary, enforces it. Its mandate covers all fishing vessels operating within Ireland’s 200-mile limit, over 2,000 Irish registered fishing vessels wherever they operate, and all seafood produced in Ireland’s seafood processing companies. The SFPA operates through a network of regional port offices situated at Ireland’s main fishery harbours. For further information visit: www.sfpa.ie
