THE UNITED NATIONS SELECTS TECH COMPANY SATLINK TO HOST AN OFFICIAL EVENT AT THE UN OCEAN CONFERENCE 2025

The United Nations selects tech company Satlink to host an official event at the UN Ocean Conference 2025.

• The company will host a high-level panel on June 12 in Nice, focused on the role of innovation and data as a bridge between fisheries, science, and marine sustainability.

 Satlink, global leader in technology solutions for ocean knowledge and marine resources management, has been selected by the United Nations to organise one of the official events during the upcoming Ocean Conference, which will take place from June 9 to 13 in Nice, France. The event, scheduled for June 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, makes Satlink one of the few technology entities recognised by the UN to participate in the Conference’s official programme.

Under the theme “From fisheries to ocean science: Blue technology as a tool for partnership on the path towards SDG14”, the Satlink-led event will explore how technology can serve as a bridge between the fishing sector, marine science, regulatory bodies, and NGOs. The event will highlight how the use of advanced technologies, such as smart buoys or onboard sensors, turns fisheries into key allies for ocean observation, by providing real-time data with applications in scientific research, public policy design, marine pollution mitigation, and ecosystem conservation.

More than thirty representatives from governments and international organisations will take part in the event, along with a broad range of participants from regional fisheries management organisations (RFMOs), scientific institutions, NGOs, and stakeholders from the fisheries sector across all oceans and continents.

The panel discussion will include Anne-France Mattlet, Director of Europêche; Lauriane Escalle, Senior Scientist at The Pacific Community (SPC); Patrick Gorringe, Physics Coordinator at EMODNet (European Marine Observation and Data Network); and Kathryn Gavira, Director of Science and Sustainability at Satlink. The discussion will be moderated by Alexandra Philippe, Maritime Affairs Advisor at the European Bureau for Conservation and Development (EBCD).

It is also an opportunity to demonstrate that the fishing sector can be a strategic partner in public policy, regulation, and science.”

The event is part of the official programme of the United Nations Ocean Conference 2025, which will define priorities for protecting the oceans during the second half of the Decade of Ocean Science. The summit is expected to bring together 70 heads of state, as well as high-level representatives from international organisations, civil society, and the private sector.
