US QUESTIONNAIRE ISSUED ON SHRIMP SECTOR

US questionnaire issued on shrimp sector. The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has issued questionnaires to the US shrimp fishermen, farmers, and processors, as well as to US shrimp importers, to US shrimp purchasers, and foreign shrimp processors and exporters, in the third sunset reviews of the antidumping duty orders on frozen warmwater shrimp from China, India, Thailand, and Vietnam was published in the Federal Register.

Responses to these questionnaires are due to the ITC no later than February 6, 2023.

US shrimp fishermen and any companies operating shrimp farms in the United States have been requested, through the ITC’s questionnaire, to provide information regarding their business’ operations in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

US shrimp processors have been issued a more detailed questionnaire that seeks information regarding the financial, production, and sales experience of these businesses for those three calendar years plus the first three quarters of 2022. Further, US shrimp processors have been asked to provide pricing information regarding four specific shrimp products on a quarterly basis from January 2019 through September 2022.

Questionnaire responses should be filled out electronically, through the MS Word-formatted questionnaires released by the ITC. Responses are filed directly with the agency, either by e-mail or through a secure drop box, following the instructions provided at the end of the questionnaire. If a respondent cannot use the MS Word-formatted questionnaire to complete its response, the ITC asks that one of the agency contacts listed in the questionnaire be contacted for further instructions.

The responses to these questionnaires will be analysed by the ITC to determine whether antidumping duties on shrimp imported from China, India, Thailand, and Vietnam should remain in place for another five years. Specifically, the agency will use this information to evaluate whether the removal of trade relief is likely to lead to the recurrence or continuation of material injury to the US shrimp industry.
