400T SEAFEED STEEL BARGE SETS SAIL

400T SeaFeed steel barge sets sail
Earlier this month, Gael Force Group launched a 400T SeaFeed steel barge from their partner yard in the Netherlands. This barge, which is now being towed to Scotland, has been commissioned by Mowi Scotland for one of its more exposed sites on the west coast of Scotland. Constructed to Lloyds accredited designs, the barge will be completed at their premises in Inverness with the addition of their SeaFeed feeding system.
Group Operations Director, Stephen Offord, who was present at the launch said: “We are delighted with all aspects of the barge design and appearance. The launch went off without a hitch and we are now looking forward to getting it into our own yard, where we can finish fitting out and installing the feeding systems on board.”
For the first time in its history of building over 100 barges, Gael Force partnered with Nauplius Workboats in the Netherlands to meet the build requirements while their own facility was fully occupied with new and refurbished concrete barge projects.
Commenting on this decision, Stephen said: “Partnering with Nauplius’ yard on this occasion gave us the flexibility needed to adapt our build program effectively.”
The barge will be delivered to Mowi’s site before the end of the year, ready to feed fish from day one. This new steel barge demonstrates Gael Force Group’s expertise in supplying both steel and concrete feed barges to the aquaculture industry, complete with comprehensive feeding technologies.
