100% FISH FOR PROFIT CONFERENCE WILL SHOWCASE COMMERCIAL POTENTIAL OF FULL SEAFOOD UTILISATION

100_ FISH FOR PROFIT CONFERENCE(1)

100% Fish for Profit conference will showcase commercial potential of full seafood utilisation at IceFish 2026. The two-day conference will explore technology, investment, business models and marine bioproduct innovation that unlock greater value from seafood resources.

IceFish 2026 will host the 100% Fish for Profit conference on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 September, bringing together seafood businesses, innovators, researchers, investors and policymakers to examine how every part of the fish can create value.

The two-day programme will explore the technologies, partnerships and commercial models that are helping move full seafood utilisation from ambition to practical reality. Through expert presentations, panels, case studies and start-up sessions, delegates will examine new approaches to processing, product development, side-stream utilisation and marine bioproducts.

Chaired by Dr Þór Sigfusson, Founder and Deputy Chair of Iceland Ocean Cluster, and Dr Alexandra Leeper, CEO of Iceland Ocean Cluster, the conference opens with a keynote panel on Global Partnerships for a Global Seafood Challenge.

The panel will explore how collaboration across industry, research, policy and investment can accelerate innovation and scale full-utilisation solutions internationally. Confirmed contributors include Alexandra Leeper and Donna Fordyce, CEO of Scottish Ocean Cluster.

A dedicated session on Enabling Technologies for Full Utilisation will cover advanced processing, cold-chain innovation, artificial intelligence, automation and smart manufacturing. The programme will consider how next-generation systems and digital tools are improving yield, quality, traceability and profitability while enabling commercially viable full utilisation.

Speakers include Runar Gjerp Solstad, Senior Scientist in Marine Biotechnology at Nofima, who will discuss Biotep, a pilot-scale processing facility designed to help companies scale bioprocesses and develop food-certified products. Andrew Gillespie-McLean of Ace Aquatec will present Making Every Fish Count, considering welfare-first approaches to culling and the repurposing of fish into alternative omega-rich protein sources.

The first day will also feature Blueprints for Success, sharing real-world case studies from companies and regional ecosystems that have implemented full-utilisation strategies. David Naftzger, Executive Director of Great Lakes, will examine how network effects supported the development of a 100% fish cluster and the productive use of more than 90% of the region’s commercial catch.

A further session will explore research, development and novel markets for marine bioproducts, including nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, animal nutrition and biomaterials. Delegates will hear how side streams can be transformed into premium products with global market potential, including research into the recovery of valuable compounds from shrimp-production side streams.

The second day focuses on New Ventures in 100%, giving emerging businesses a platform to present ideas, technologies and business models driving the next generation of seafood innovation. Contributors include Benedek Regoczi, Founder of Halvdis, and Sara Erickson, Founder of Alaskins.

The programme concludes with 100% Transformation: The Future in Action, showcasing projects and practical approaches that are changing the way seafood resources are used and valued.

100% Fish for Profit takes place on 23–24 September 2026 at Smárinn Halls, Kópavogur, Iceland, as part of IceFish 2026.
