Ísfell growing with the Aquaculture industry

Ísfell, a leading supplier of fishing gear sales, service, and design, has expanded its offering with AuroraNet, a new, advanced range of knotless UHMWPE netting developed to meet the aquaculture industry’s growing demand for greater efficiency and safer operations.

AuroraNet is manufactured from lightweight, highly abrasion-resistant UHMWPE material, combining low weight with high strength and excellent handling characteristics, even in challenging conditions. The reduced weight of the netting lowers physical workload, simplifies day-to-day operations, and helps reduce handling costs. Improved water flow through the nets also enhances fish welfare while reducing strain on mooring systems.

Ísfell will be exhibiting at IceFish 2026 on stand E22, where visitors can learn more about its product portfolio and its ongoing commitment to reducing environmental impact across its operations. The company has recently announced initiatives to cut its carbon footprint both at sea and on land. As part of its waste-reduction strategy, Ísfell offers a collection service for used fishing equipment, ensuring it is recycled responsibly.

The company operates seven service stations across Iceland, located in Akureyri, Hafnarfjörður, Húsavík, Ólafsfjörður, Patreksfjörður, Sauðárkrókur, and Vestmannaeyjar.

A core element of Ísfell’s product development strategy is close collaboration with suppliers, fishing companies, fishermen, and customers. This cooperation enables the company to better understand operational needs and expectations, driving continuous improvements in both products and services.
