TOTAL ICELANDIC CATCH IN APRIL WAS 123 THOUSAND TONNES

Total Icelandic catch In April was 123 thousand tonnes. Total catch landed in April 2026 was over 123 thousand tonnes, 12% less than in April 2025. The demersal catch was 37 thousand tonnes, representing a 12% decrease compared with April 2025. The pelagic catch, which, like last year, was mostly blue whiting, was 84 thousand tonnes, a 12% decrease compared to April 2025.

In the 12-month period, from May 2025 to April 2026, the total catch was 1,125 thousand tonnes, a 15% increase from the preceding 12-month period. There was a 34% increase in the pelagic catch, largely driven by capelin while the demersal catch decreased by 6% between periods.
