ADDITIONAL UNDERSIZE CRAYFISH SEIZED BY THE SFPA

Additional undersize crayfish seized by the SFPA. A follow up inspection was undertaken in Kerry on the 18^th May by the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA), following the seizure of 39 undersize crayfish on the 9^th May. A further eight keeps were inspected on the 18^th May by Sea-Fisheries Protection Officers of the SFPA and two of these were found to contain 47 undersize crayfish, and one oversize lobster. The animals were returned live to the sea.

The SFPA’s annual inshore fisheries patrol programme is part of conservation measures to help protect Ireland’s valuable shellfish and crustacean fisheries including crab, lobster, crayfish, and whelk.
