AQUAFUTURE SPAIN PRESENTS THE TECHNICAL CONFERENCE PROGRAMME

Aquafuture Spain presents the Technical Conference Programme. The conferences consist of 7 round tables and 25 presentations in which more than 60 international speakers will participate.
Aquafuture Spain, through its director Juan Lijó, has presented this morning the programme of conferences and presentations that will take place on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 May at the IFEVI – Vigo exhibition centre.
The “Zona Franca de Vigo” Conference Room will host seven round tables, although the day and time of each of them have not yet been assigned, the topics to be addressed will be the following.
Implementation of the CSRD in the aquaculture industry addressing challenges and opportunities posed by the implementation of the new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in the aquaculture sector.
Technology and artificial intelligence applied to marketing and production
Practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies in aquaculture, such as the optimisation of production processes. Increasing production for sustainable global aquaculture.
Different strategies will be presented to increase the productive capacity of aquaculture in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Circular innovation in aquaculture
In which the integration of the circular economy in the aquaculture sector will be discussed with the aim of minimising waste, taking advantage of by-products… Initiatives that transform aquaculture business models towards greater sustainability and profitability will be discussed, through the reuse and recycling of resources.
Future food trends
An attempt will be made to identify emerging trends in consumption and food preferences that affect aquaculture products. Changes in consumer demands, opportunities in international markets and strategies to position aquaculture products as sustainable, healthy and high-quality options will be discussed.
Alternative Proteins
There will be discussions on the development of alternative sources of protein in aquaculture and on advances in new ingredients such as proteins based on insects, algae or waste from agro-industrial processes, emphasising their role in sustainability and reducing dependence on fishmeal.
Finally, in Internationalisation in the aquaculture sector, there will be a discussion on strategies and tools for aquaculture companies, organisations and institutions to expand into international markets. Trade barriers, opportunities in emerging markets and how to carry out alliances and collaborations that boost the competitiveness of the aquaculture sector at a global level will be identified.
From now on, work will be done on the selection of Speakers and schedules will be assigned to complete the programme. Each round table will last an hour and a half, each will be attended by a moderator and four speakers, and will end with the participation of the audience.
All round tables will have simultaneous English/Spanish translation for all audiences who need it.
The Aquafuture Spain Technical Conference will be completed with two Presentation Rooms, where some of the exhibitors will give commercial talks and present projects and studies.
The “Deputación de Pontevedra” Room and the “Sala Concello de Vigo” Room have already been reserved by companies such as Grupo Eurored, Sulzer, Biomar, Morenot, Ciimar, Flatlantic, Irta, Hipra, Lakse Systemers or the CIM – Uvigo. The reservation period is still open and the complete programme will be offered in two months.
The III International Aquaculture Exhibition, AQUAFUTURE SPAIN, will be held from 20 to 22 May 2025 at the IFEVI exhibition centre in Vigo. More than 210 exhibitors have already arrived from 27 countries, highlighting a large delegation from China and emerging countries such as Saudi Arabia or Egypt, which represents 40% more participation than in the previous edition and a 35% growth in international exhibitors.
