BRIM TO BUY TWO ICELANDIC FISHERIES COMPANIES

Brim to buy two Icelandic fisheries companies. Brim has signed a contract to buy two fisheries companies in Hafnarfjörður in Iceland – Fiskvinnslan Kambur hf. and Grábrók ehf. Each of the two companies operate one fishing vessel with a total catch allocation of .850 tons, mainly cod.
Fiskvinnsla Kambur also operates a high-tech fish processing plant in Hafnarfjörður that only last year bought state of the art processing lines from the Icelandic producer Valka hf. The total purchasing price is ISK 3.150 million.
Guðmundur Kristjánsson, CEO of Brim, says the purpose of the acquisition is to strengthen Brim as a leading company in the seafood industry in Iceland.
“We are now increasing our catch allowance in cod, acquiring high-tech processing units and gaining access to human resources that enable us to make fish processing in Iceland even more compatible for the global market.“
