DOUBLE CELEBRATION FOR CORNISH SEAFOOD COMPANY

Double celebration for Cornish seafood company, Ideal Foods LTD.  Cornish, family run seafood business, Ideal Foods Ltd was delighted to welcome Colonel Edward Bolitho OBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall to its Head Office located in Liskeard, to formally present the company with its King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

In a double celebration, Ideal Foods, which recently announced another record year with turnover exceeding £22 million, also held a raffle for its staff members, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs.

Ideal Foods has more than 20 years of international trading experience within the seafood sector, exporting fish, shellfish and fish by-products to customers in more than 40 countries worldwide.  The company employs 40 staff across three main locations including a fish processing factory and cold store in Grimsby, where Managing Director, Tony Horner grew up and learnt his trade.

Sustainability is at the very heart of the business and the company strives to ensure that no part of the fish goes to waste.

Over the past 15 years, the company has seen consistent year on year growth and this year, it announced that turnover had increased once more to £22.4 Million.  This equates to 18,396 tonnes of fish sold, 80% of which was sold and exported overseas.

Tony Horner, Managing Director of Ideal Foods comments:

“This has been a fantastic year for Ideal Foods with growth and targets exceeding all expectations.

As a SME it has given us immense pride to be recognised for our exporting successes and it was a great honour for all the staff to receive our award today from Colonel Edward Bolitho OBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall on behalf of His Majesty, The King”.

In celebration of both achievements, Ideal Foods rewarded their staff with a raffle, drawn by Colonel Edward Bolitho OBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall. Prizes with a total value of £10,000 included holidays, theatre experiences, dining out vouchers, spa days and additional annual leave.

In keeping with the business, Ideal Foods also arranged for a mobile Fish and Chip caterer to deliver a fish and chip lunch to all its staff and VIP guests.

Tony Horner continues:

The King’s Award for Enterprise was previously known as the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, and the new name reflects His majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses.  The award programme, now in its 57th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
