DUTCH COMPANY JOINS GLOBAL TUNA ALLIANCE

Dutch company joins Global Tuna AllianceRD Foods B.V., located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, becomes the latest partner in the Global Tuna Alliance, an independent group of retailers and tuna supply chain companies, who are committed to implementing the objectives laid out in the World Economic Forum’s Tuna 2020 Traceability Declaration.

RD Foods B.V. is an integrated part of the RD Corporation Group (Est 1994) and established in January 2013 as the European Sales and Distribution office for the Group’s tuna production facilities

Ed Meijboom, Sales Director at RD foods said: “We are excited to be able to work together with our GTA partners to eliminate IUU fishing and to achieve sustainable and socially responsible tuna resources”.

Dr Tom Pickerell, Executive Director at the Global Tuna Alliance, said: “We are delighted to welcome RD Food to the Partnership. I’m looking forward to working with Ed and his team to achieve the goals of the Global Tuna Alliance.”

Global Tuna Alliance is supported by Friends of Ocean Action, a group of more than 50 global leaders committed to fast-tracking solutions for a healthy ocean.

The Global Tuna Alliance is an independent group of retailers and tuna supply chain companies, who are committed to realising harvest strategies for tuna fisheries, avoidance of IUU products, improved traceability as well as environmental sustainability, and progressing work on human rights in tuna fisheries and to implementing the objectives laid out in World Economic Forum’s Tuna 2020 Traceability Declaration as championed by Friends of Ocean Action. They work collaboratively with member and non-member organizations to find industry-wide solutions to efficiently implement commitments to GTA commitments and the WEF 2020 Traceability
