FRASERBURGH FISHING BOAT SINKS; 6 CREW RESCUED

Fraserburgh fishing boat sinks; 6 crew rescued. Six crew members were safely rescued after their Fraserburgh-registered fishing vessel, Odyssey, sank in the North Sea. The distress call was received by coastguards just before 05:30, with the vessel located approximately 140 miles (225 km) east of the Firth of Forth.
Following the emergency alert from the vessel’s EPIRB (emergency position-indicating radio beacon), nearby vessels were asked to assist, and an HM Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft, along with a Norwegian search and rescue helicopter, joined the operation. Another fishing boat in the area responded promptly, rescuing the crew from their liferaft. FRASERBURGH FISHING BOAT SINKS
In a statement, the Coastguard confirmed:
“The crew was recovered safe and well from a liferaft by a fishing vessel which responded to the call for help. No one was reported missing, and the crew will be brought to shore by another vessel.”
