GARWARE DRIVES INNOVATION IN SALMON FARMING

Garware drives innovation in salmon farming. Garware Technical Fibres recently showcased its full range of technical textile products and solutions at AquaSur 2026 in Puerto Montt, Chile, adding value to the aquaculture industry. These included cage nets, predator nets, the X12 skirt for microalgae bloom and sea lice (Caligus) control—also available in a recyclable version—along with mooring ropes.

A key highlight was the launch of the new Max Pro X18 predator net, featuring best-in-class mesh stiffness for optimal protection against predator attacks. It offers high cut resistance, excellent abrasion resistance for enhanced durability, very high resistance to washing and impact, and an innovative anti-fouling technology that reduces in-situ cleaning costs. It is also available with V2 technology (copper particle extrusion): the V2 Max Pro–X18, which incorporates built-in anti-fouling properties to further reduce operational costs. This solution has been developed to continue improving performance and efficiency in offshore operations.

Convergence of innovation, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability

Garware’s mission is clear: to deliver innovative, application-focused solutions that enhance customer value worldwide:

“Our approach is not centred on selling standard products, but on listening to customers and designing tailored solutions that solve their operational challenges and improve profitability. Our products are designed to protect fish from predators, pests such as Caligus, and algal blooms, while also reducing the need for pharmaceutical and mechanical treatments. At AquaSur 2026, we showcased products suited for operational strategies such as in-situ cleaning and anti-fouling, as well as for different site conditions,” said Gopakumar Menon, Vice President – International Business, Garware Technical Fibres.

In terms of sustainability, the company is making progress in energy transition, reducing coal usage, optimising water consumption, and reusing waste materials within its production processes.

AquaSur 2026 featured the of a distinguished team of international executives, led by Vayu Garware, Chairman and Managing Director, and Shujaul Rehman, CEO. In Chile, the local team is led by Gopakumar Menon, Vice President – International Business, managed by Marcos Jofré and Francisco Serra, alongside Ricardo Gálvez in sales, Ramkrushna Borse in the technical area, and Felipe Maldonado in support— all focused on strengthening customer proximity and responsiveness.

“We thank everyone who visited our stand. It has been a pleasure to share, connect, and reconnect with clients, collaborators, and friends from the industry. This edition has been unique: for the first time, it included the presence of the President of the Republic and a significant international delegation. Undoubtedly, this is a sign that the industry is receiving broad support, which we value and celebrate,” concluded Francisco Serra, Commercial Manager of Garware Chile.
