HARVEST VOLUMES REACH ALL-TIME-HIGH FOR MOWI SCOTLAND

HARVEST VOLUMES REACH

Harvest volumes reach all-time-high for Mowi Scotland. This month, Mowi posted its Q4 results, ending a record year with revenues of EUR 1.59 billion and operational EBIT of EUR 213 million in the fourth quarter.

Within the global business, it was also a record year for Mowi Scotland, achieving harvest volumes of 71,603 tonnes, the first time a Scottish salmon farmer has exceeded 70,000 tonnes.

Speaking about Mowi Scotland’s achievements, Ben Hadfield, Mowi’s Chief Operating Officer of Farming in Scotland, Ireland, The Faroes and Canada East, said:

“What a way to end the year. This record-breaking performance is down to the dedication of all our staff involved in raising Scotland’s biggest food export and executing our strategy to optimise fish health and maximise harvest.

“60% of the annual volumes in 2025 were harvested before Q3 and the onset of the more difficult biological season, a harvest plan designed to maximise price achievement and minimise environmental challenges.”

Price and volume development

Achieved prices increased from Q4 2024 on the back of strong superior share and sale of differentiated products including the Wester Ross brand, organic and Label Rouge products sold to the US. Contracts had a positive effect on price achievement. The contract share was 64% versus 58% in Q4 2024.

Operating margin was 15.6% for Q4 versus 15.3% in Q4 2024 and 18.7% YTD compared to 17.8% in 2024.

Costs and operations

For the full year, cost was reduced compared to 2024 on realisation of lower feed prices, operational improvements and positive scale effects from higher volumes. Mowi Scotland’s post smolt strategy, combined with the completion of a new broodstock facility to become 100% self-sufficient with eggs of the Mowi strain, are important measures to address more challenging environmental conditions in Scotland over time.

Ben continues:

“Mowi’s new hatchery at Ardessie has been completed to a high standard and propels us forward with Mowi Genetics. The project has been led by John Richmond, Broodstock and Post-Smolt Manager, and is his third hatchery – a very significant achievement. I want to thank John and all those involved for a job well done, this is a solid foundation for all our operations in Scotland.”

Feed conversion ratio and superior share improved compared to Q4 2024. For the full year, seawater production and average harvest weight also improved.

Record year for Consumer Products

It was also a record year for Mowi Consumer Products which delivered another solid quarter and an impressive 2025 with both financial and operational records. CPUK in Rosyth played its part in the division ending the year with an operational operating profit of €197m and record volumes of 265,000 tonnes of product weight globally.
