HÄTÄLÄ’S PRODUCTS SELECTED AS FINALISTS

Hätälä’s products selected as finalists in the 2025 Seafood Excellence Global Awards. Two of Hätälä’s products has been selected as finalists for the 2025 Seafood Excellence Global Awards. Winners of the competition will be selected and announced at a reception on 6 May during the 31th edition of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global which will take place from 6 to 8 May 2025 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue in Barcelona, Spain.

Hätälä’s high-quality and innovative fish products have once again gained international recognition. Two of Hätälä’s products, Flamed Salmon with Arctic Berries and Pulled Salmon Tex Mex, have been selected as finalists in the prestigious Seafood Excellence Global Awards 2025. Hätälä’s products have reached the finals of the prestigious competition since 2018. The competition was not held in 2020–2021.

“We are very proud that our products have also been noticed internationally,” says Matti Isohätälä, Executive Vice President and Head of Exports at Hätälä. “Being a finalist in the Seafood Excellence Global Awards is a significant recognition of our long-term work in export, innovative product development and sustainability.”

Tradition with a twist

Flamed Salmon with Arctic Berries is a testament to the Hätälä family business’s almost 90 years of craftsmanship in fish processing. Hätälä has innovatively combined the traditional Nordic delicacy flamed salmon with Arctic berries – nature’s own superfood, packed with flavours and nutrients from the pure northern wilderness.

The product is ready to eat and ready to heat. It can be sold fresh or frozen and is available as a whole fillet or divided into individual portions, making it suitable for both Foodservice and Retail.

“Flamed Salmon with Arctic Berries is a true reflection of Hätälä’s northern heritage. The berries provide a fresh, tangy contrast to the tender and juicy fish. Our aim is not just to produce fish products, but to create unique taste experiences for European diners with our premium products,” Isohätälä describes.

Good on the plate, great for the planet

The second finalist, Hätälä’s Pulled Salmon Tex Mex, represents the company’s commitment not only to innovation, but also to sustainability. Pulled salmon is made from salmon by-products, reducing food waste and CO₂ emissions.

The product is specifically designed for professional kitchens and is suitable for a wide range of dishes, including salads, sauces, pizzas and tortillas. Hätälä’s Pulled Salmon is created in collaboration with the Finnish food technology company Hailia.

“Salmon is a precious raw material for us, and we want to utilise the whole fish as efficiently as possible to avoid waste. With Pulled Salmon we also help our foodservice customers towards their sustainability goals,” says Isohätälä.
