IDEAL FOODS LTD HAS ACHIEVED A KING’S AWARD FOR ENTERPRISE

Ideal Foods LTD has achieved a King’s award for enterprise. Cornish, family run seafood business, Ideal Foods Ltd is delighted to announce that it has been honoured with the first ever King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

Announced on Friday 21st April, Ideal Foods is one of 148 organisations nationally and 16 in the South West to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise.

Ideal Foods, which has its head office located in Liskeard, Cornwall has more than 20 years of international trading experience within the seafood sector. The company exports fish, shellfish and fish by-products to customers in more than 40 countries worldwide, specifically in the Far East, Europe and the USA.

Ideal Foods employs 40 staff across four main business locations including two fish processing factories and a cold store located in Grimsby, where Managing Director, Tony Horner grew up and learnt his trade.

Over the past 15 years, the company has seen consistent year on year growth and this year, the company has announced another record year with turnover increasing to £22.4 Million.  This equates to 18,396 tonnes of fish sold, 80% of which was sold and exported overseas.

Tony Horner, Managing Director of Ideal Foods comments:

“As Managing Director of Ideal Foods, it gives me immense pride to see our company honoured in this way.

“We are fortunate to have a wonderful team of committed, hard-working and high achieving staff, and each and every one of our workforce has contributed to our international sales success.

“In particular, I would like to thank Jeanette Turpin, Sales Director and Lauren Horner, Operations Director for their leadership, hard work, tenacity, sales and management skills, which have made the company the success it is.

“I would also like to thank Jane Johnson, Financial Controller and Teresa Page, Marketing Manager for their determination, perseverance and professionalism in preparing and submitting our King’s Award application.”

This year, the company is predicting turnover to increase once again to over £25 million. To achieve this, the company is looking to break into new international markets and has recently conducted a market research visit with the Department of International Trade to a currently unchartered country in the Far East.

Tony Horner continues:

“Next week, we will be exhibiting at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, the world’s largest seafood trade event, in Hall 2 stand 2D100.

“Our sales and procurement team look forward to meeting with both existing and new customers, and suppliers to enable our business to continue to grow.

“This is a very exciting time for Ideal Foods with new projects on the horizon. We are delighted that we can move forward with our business activities along with the accolade of the King’s Award for Enterprise.”

The King’s Award for Enterprise was previously known as the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, and the new name reflects His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The award programme, now in its 57th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
