MR AMOD ASHOK SALGAONKAR INVITED AS ‘INTERNATIONAL OBSERVER’ AT FAO-INFOFISH 2022 EVENT

Mr Amod Ashok Salgaonkar invited as ‘international observer’ at FAO-INFOFISH 2022 event.  Mr Amod Ashok Salgaonkar, an International Food & Trade Professional from India has been invited as an International Observer to attend FAO INFOFISH ‘Annual Technical & Advisory Board’ meeting which was held during 19-21 July 2022. His participation brings an honour to Indian seafood trade professionals as the platform covers the entire Asia Region. The annual progress of the organisation has been discussed during a meeting with a way forward for next year for further development of all the member countries. There were delegates present from all 12 member nations besides two more observers and entire INFOFISH team.

INFOFISH was originally launched in 1981 as a project of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations. Since 1987, it is an Intergovernmental Organisation providing marketing information and technical advisory services to the fishery industry of the Asia-Pacific region and beyond from its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Twelve countries are currently members of INFOFISH which are Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

INFOFISH is the leading source of marketing support for fish producers and exporters in the Asia-Pacific – a region which includes some of the largest fishing nations in the world. Its activities include bringing buyers and sellers together, the publication of current and long-term marketing information and operation of technical advisory and specialised services. In addition to organising exhibitions, conferences, workshops, seminars and training programmes, INFOFISH undertakes consultancies on all aspects of fisheries – pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest.

Amod who is known for its multi-sector knowledge has also participated as a delegate at WTO’s Trade and Environmental Sustainability Structured Discussions (TESSD), on 19 July 2022. Among another notable recognitions, he has now been appointed as Entrepreneur-In-Residence (EIR) & Country Lead: India for Founder Institute Food Accelerator Programme for Asia Pacific.
