New Scottish boat launch for Macduff Shipyards. The ‘Caledonia III’ (BCK 35) has recently been launched at the Macduff Shipyards Buckie facility and is now in the harbour where the final fit out is being carried out.

‘Caledonia III’ is a sister ship to the ‘Asteria’ which was also built at the Buckie site and handed over last autumn. The vessel features a Caterpillar C18 main engine coupled to a 7:1 reduction gearbox and driving a 2000 mm diameter propeller and matching nozzle supplied by Wartsila. Arranged for twin rig trawling the ‘Caledonia III’ is to go on trials later in the summer.

Meanwhile, Macduff Shipyards latest new build, Achieve (FR100) has recently been taken out of the fabrication hall and is now in the harbour where final fit out is being carried out. Built to a new design drawn up by Macduff Ship Design, the 24m Achieve is arranged for seine netting and will be handed over to local owner Bruce Buchan after completion of sea trials which are expected next month.
