NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR FISHING NEWS AWARDS

Nominations sought for Fishing News Awards 2024. Nominations for the top talents from the commercial fishing industry are being sought for this year’s prestigious Fishing News Awards.

The only event dedicated to recognising achievement, innovation and success in the UK and Ireland commercial fishing industry, the Fishing News Awards will this year crown winners across 12 categories – including Over-10m Fisherman of the Year, Under-10m Fisherman of the Year, Young Fisherman of the Year, and Trainee Fisherman of the Year.

With less than two weeks remaining until nominations close, Andy Read, editor of Fishing News, said there was still time to nominate a fisherman deserving of recognition: “We’re calling on local knowledge from around the coast to help recognise special talents from across the commercial fishing industry.

“If you’re a vessel owner with an outstanding new recruit onboard, a fisherman, who has been mentored by an inspirational skipper, or a training college with a first-class student, we need your nominations to ensure that our shortlists really do represent the very best of the talent from around the UK and Ireland.”

Nominations for the awards, which culminate in a gala ceremony in Aberdeen in May, are also being sought in the Service Provider of the Year, Initiative of the Year, Technical Innovation of the Year, and Port of the Year categories.

“Put forward your chosen candidates and let us know why they deserve recognition in this year’s awards,” said Andy Read.

All nominations need to be received by midnight on Monday, 12 February.
