NSF INTERNATIONAL OPENS NEW QUINGDAO LOCATION
NSF International opens new Quingdao location. NSF International hosted an opening ceremony for its new Qingdao, China location earlier this month. The new location will support NSF’s standards development, testing and certification work in China. NSF also operates a state-of-the-art laboratory in Shanghai.
Dozens of guests from industry, government and media joined the celebration, including representatives from:
Chinese Academy of Comprehensive Test Centre (CAIQTEST)
China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance (CAPPMA)
BRCGS Great China
Ocean University of China
Bright Food Group
Qingdao Unibond-Zhengjin premium Food Processing Ltd.
Qingdao Unibond Premium Seafood Processing Co., Ltd.
NSF’s Sol Yu welcomed guests and thanked participants for their long-term support of NSF International and its mission of protecting and improving human health. He said the newly opened Qingdao office will bring NSF closer to its clients and partners in China.
NSF’s Tom Chestnut recognized NSF’s 75th anniversary and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to protecting and improving human health around the world. As part of the celebration, Tom Chestnut and Sol Yu were invited to paint the eyes of a ceremonial lion and participate in a traditional lion dance.
According to Sol Yu, offering new and expanded certification, testing and auditing services across China is one of the ways NSF International hopes to support China’s future efforts to protect and improve human health.
Ms. Li Shujuan, deputy general manager of the Chinese Academy of Comprehensive Test Center announced a cooperative agreement with NSF International, which will enable the two organizations to collaborate on standard development, testing and certification projects offering “fast, reliable and consistent technical services with mutual rich experience, strong technical capabilities and a complete service network.”
The event also featured a first for NSF International: Tom Chestnut awarded NSF’s first FSMA Foreign Supplier Verification Programme (FSVP) certification to Chen Yuchi, vice president of China’s Evergreen Group. NSF International was recently accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to certify supplier compliance to U.S. food safety regulations under the FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification programme.
