THE SCOTTISH SALMON COMPANY NAMED AS FINALIST AT THE 2018 HIGHLANDS & ISLANDS FOOD AND DRINK AWARDS
The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) has been shortlisted in two categories at the renowned Highlands & Islands Food and Drink Awards.
SSC has been acknowledged for its ongoing achievements in Export and Sustainability. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 5 October in Inverness hosted by STV presenter, Jennifer Reoch.
The Scottish Salmon Company is one of only 44 businesses to have been shortlisted for awards across 14 wide ranging categories.
Held in association with Highlands & Islands Enterprise, the awards recognise the excellence of the region’s diverse food and drink sector. Now in their 14th year, they celebrate the exceptional quality, growth and innovation in the industry, which has led to the reputation of Highlands and Islands as a top global food destination.
The shortlisting recognises the Company’s achievement in growing its export business through a commitment to Scottish Provenance Guaranteed and the development of innovations such as Native Hebridean Salmon. A truly unique and native strain of Scottish salmon, Native Hebridean Salmon descend from stock sourced from the freshwater lochs of North Uist and reared exclusively in the Hebrides.
SSC is committed to sustainability across all areas of the business, including environmental and welfare standards, and earlier this year became the first Scottish salmon farm to achieve ‘Best Aquaculture Practice’ (BAP) certification, one of the aquaculture industry’s highest standards.
