SCOTTISH WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM NETS NEW TRAINING FACILITIES
Scottish Women’s Volleyball Team nets new training facilities thanks to The Scottish Salmon Company. The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) has provided the Scottish Women’s Volleyball Team with funding towards new training facilities, following its latest round of Community Fund awards.
The Scottish Women’s Volleyball Team recently competed in the Small Countries Association European Finals in Luxembourg, where they had a successful tournament defeating Ireland, the Faroes and Northern Ireland, all by three sets to nil. The team went on to face hosts Luxembourg in the final and took home silver after narrowly losing a pulsating final.
The team will use SSC’s support to improve their training facilities, boosting their ability to compete in competitions both in the UK and internationally. Between tournaments team members and coaches visit schools and run junior coaching programmes, with the aim of encouraging children to get involved in sport through their voluntary work and promoting volleyball at a grass roots level across Scotland.
Established in 2017 as part of SSC’s Community Charter, the Fund encourages SSC staff to be champions in their area by nominating local groups, charities and organisations that support health and wellbeing for a funding grant of up to £250. The team was nominated by Samantha Fowler, Project Manager at SSC, to receive the funding.
Craig Anderson, Chief Executive of The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “The Scottish Salmon Company is committed to the communities where many of our staff live and work.
“We’re pleased to support the Scottish Women’s Volleyball Team, who share SSC’s commitment to health and wellbeing. We congratulate them for their efforts at the Small Countries Association European Finals in Luxembourg earlier this month, and wish them every success in future tournaments.”
Vince Krawczyk, Head Coach to the Scottish National Women’s Team Programme, said: “We’re very grateful to The Scottish Salmon Company for their generous donation. Our players and team are dedicated to volleyball and are honoured to represent Scotland while promoting the sport to young people across the country.”
