SSC Chief Executive recognised as transformational leader. The Scottish Salmon Company’s (SSC) Chief Executive Craig Anderson has been named as a Transformational Leader at the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Scotland.

The awards programme recognises successful entrepreneurs making a positive impact on their society and the economy, and the legacies they’re building.

Leaders from 23 of Scotland’s most promising, pioneering and accomplished businesses gathered at the Scottish finals at V&A Dundee on 14 June. Craig will now progress to the UK level of the competition which has been celebrating, supporting and connecting entrepreneurs in the UK for more than 20 years.

Craig was recognised for his leadership in responsibly growing SSC into a £180m turnover business, which exports to 26 countries and employs over 650 staff. Working at the heart of Scotland’s food and drink sector, the company has 60 sites on the west coast and Hebrides and plays an integral part in the remote and rural communities where its staff live and work.

Craig has driven the company’s responsible growth strategy which focuses on developing exports and promoting Scottish provenance. His commitment to innovation has been integral to the development of the company’s flagship Native Hebridean Salmon, a truly unique and native strain of Scottish salmon descended from wild stock in North Uist and reared exclusively in its natural environment in the Hebrides.  It is then processed and smoked in the Hebrides where SSC is the largest private employer.  An industry success story, it is one of the ways in which SSC creates and retains value and much-needed employment in Scotland’s rural communities.
