TOTAL ICELANDIC CATCH IN DECEMBER, JUST OVER 53 THOUSAND TONNES

Total Icelandic catch in December, just over 53 thousand tonnes.  The total fish catch in Iceland, December 2025 was just over 53 thousand tonnes, a decrease of 13% compared with December the year before. Demersal catch decreased 13% year-on-year, pelagic catch by 12% while flatfish catch decreased by 30%.

During the year 2025, total catch reached 1,032 thousand tonnes, representing a 4% increase compared with the year 2024. Pelagic catch increased by 8% compared with the year 2024 while flatfish catch decreased by 17% and demersal catch decreased by 1%.
