Xelect at AquaNor 2019. Xelect will be presenting a stand at the aquaculture trade show, AquaNor, held in Trondheim. The show is a major gathering of the industry, attended by thousands of aquaculture professionals from around the world.

Xelect is a private company registered in Scotland. It started as a spin-out from a leading aquaculture research group at the University of St Andrews in 2012 . The founders were Professor Ian Johnston FRSE, then Director of the Scottish Oceans Institute at the university, and Dr Tom Ashton.
They manage and support breeding programmes on behalf of leading producers of farmed finfish, shrimp and shellfish worldwide.
Their expert team of aquaculture specialists and geneticists provide practical solutions that are tailored to the needs of breeding programmes and production goals.
They operate a private fully equipped genetics laboratory with state-of-the-art molecular biology instruments.
They have an active research and development pipeline to develop sophisticated new genetic analysis tools and computational methods.
They are developing cutting edge hardware to measure critical physical traits using artificial intelligence and machine vision.
They have active R&D programmes supported by Horizon 2020 and Scottish Enterprise, enabling them to maintain their position at the forefront of their field.
